· Experience a rigorous curriculum with an international application, integrated basic skills, and higher level thinking skills.

· Benefit from a differentiated instruction that adjusts learning pace and depth to students’ learning styles and performance.

· Study through active participation in a variety of inquiry-based learning experiences.

· Develop communication skills necessary for the effective sharing of ideas.

· Focus on conceptual learning in holistic evaluation using varied and ongoing assessment strategies.

· Heighten intellectual curiosity and passion for learning.

· Exceed standards and meet potential.

· Advance research skills while working collaboratively to explore open-ended questions.

· Extend learning through multi-media technology instruction, practice, research, and student projects.

· Forge bonds and build positive energy with multi-grade peers and teachers.

· Enhance talent areas with daily off-team physical education and exploratory classes.

· Experience parent and family involvement as an integral component of our gifted teams.

Language arts, math, science, and social studies team teachers coordinate assignments, projects, and tests to maximize student success. Students can expect approximately twenty minutes of homework per class each day. High school credit classes require additional rigor and homework.

All identified gifted students, full-time and resource, are invited to join a Sarasota Middle School multi-grade gifted team. Multi-grade team students, grades 6, 7, and 8 together, learn in a consistent, nurturing environment during their middle school years, building camaraderie with their peers and teachers. Learning experiences are continuous and spiraling.
